John Calipari’s first postgame press conference of the season took place Monday night after his Kentucky Wildcats defended home court in the opener, defeating New Mexico State, 86-46. Calipari opened the late-night conversation by going straight to questions, starting with one about playing random basketball and what it means with this team.
Calipari replied, “When you have five guys, really more than that, that can all pass, dribble and shoot. You can play random. When you have two or three, you can’t.”
He likes playing random.
He likes the way Kentucky defended, too.
